The Controller is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, internal control systems and protection of assets against loss.  Also responsible for the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager and the indirect supervision of all other accounting associates.
 
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:    
 
•    Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system), and analyzes and reports variances.
•    Develops, analyzes, interprets statistical and accounting data to evaluate operating results for profitability, performance to budget, etc.
•    Provides leadership with regards to company policies and procedures and maintains SOX compliance.
•    Ensures that financial statements and information comply with GAAP.
•    Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement of financial performance in accordance with corporate objectives, and communicates and pursues such opportunities.
•    Partners with the General Manager and other members of the leadership team; provides advice and counsel on a wide range of issues facing the business.
•    Reviews and approves Journal Entries prepared by Accounting Manager.
•    Reviews and approves capital spending requests and assists as needed in CAR preparation.
•    Reviews weekly operational metrics (Tracker and TOC’s) with GM’s.
•    Prepare quarterly review packages and coordinates presentation with GM’s.
•    Presents quarterly review packages to GM’s and Corporate.


Minimum Job Requirements:    

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and 5-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
•    Expertise in technical accounting, budgeting, planning, and internal control.
•    Able to comprehend broad business issues and accomplish objectives through others.
•     High degree of understanding general accounting and cost accounting terminology.
•     High level of understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)
•    Able to read and comprehend English.
•    Able to read, analyze and interpret common scientific; and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Able to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
•    Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
•        Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
•      Able to lift and carry up to 10lbs. occasionally.
•      Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
•      Able to use Microsoft Office applications; high level of skill in Excel and Great Plains.
•    Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.

Desired Competencies:    

•    MBA or CPA preferred.
