Location Profile:

Southwest United Industries Tulsa operates from a 100,000 square feet modern and well-maintained facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Former headquarters for Southwest United Industries (prior to acquisition), the site offers single source metal finishing for newly manufactured parts and for repair and overhaul applications. Southwest United Industries has been a part of PCC since its acquisition in December 2012.

Position Summary:

The Waste Systems Operator will maintain hazardous waste operations, specifically two onsite industrial waste water treatment systems. This position will ensure all containments stay pumped out and ensure compliance of hazardous waste handling, storage, and shipments. This position will handle all aspects of satellite accumulation areas and comply with RCRA guidelines.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Load and/or unload chemicals and/or waste into the treatment systems, and the chemical storage area. Keep waste management systems, containment, and general areas as clean as practical.
  • Perform weekly RCRA site inspections and quarterly storm water inspections.
  • Maintain and keep a full level of bicarbonate, floor dry drums and spill kits. Ensure satellite drums are always closed and not over full. Only one drum per waste is allowed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties for all waste related chemical process equipment, i.e., cleaning pumps, cleaning hazardous waste storage tanks, changing filters, etc.
  • Label all stored waste with Hazardous Waste label Accumulation Start Dates and ensure all waste storage containers are closed and labeled. Keep hazardous waste area tidy and open to inspection.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards throughout department and work facility.
  • Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material. Actively promote safety process and report any safety issues to proper channels for action. Assist in accident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain the Hazardous Waste Area and coordinate with EH&S for waste vendor scheduling.
  • Pick up full satellite waste containers and deliver to appropriate areas for disposal/recycling.
  • Ensure all wastewater discharges are under discharge limits.
  • Assist EHS in various tasks as needed.
  • Operate and maintain the building 1 and building 11 waste treatment DI systems.

Required Skills:

  • Mechanical aptitude, and be physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb and reach
  • Practical understand of basic chemistry
  • Experience operating forklift

Required Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, College degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of chemical or maintenance experience strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
