PCC Structurals is the world leader in superalloy, aluminum and titanium investment casting. With applications in jet aircraft engines, airframes, industrial gas turbine (IGT) engines, military armaments, medical prosthesis, and many other industrial markets, we provide a wide portfolio of high-quality components, some as large as 100 inches (250cm).

Located in Clackamas, Oregon, PCC Small Structures Business Operations (SSBO) specializes in air and Vacuum Investment Cast Components for Aerospace, Energy, and Commercial Applications. Our robust engineering team, in-house prototyping capability, and 197,000 square feet of manufacturing space make it the ideal facility to bring your development program into production.
This position is a leadership role with strategic and tactical responsibility. It requires a hands-on manager who is willing to maintain a high level of visibility with PCC’s management team and manufacturing and fabrication teams. Selected candidate is expected to lead, manage, direct and support development of PCC’s safety and industrial hygiene programs as well as provide programmatic direction for the plant. 

This position will provide support and guidance for PCC manufacturing operations in the following areas:

  • Safe workplace procedures
  • New Equipment Review and Approval
  • OSHA compliance
  • Safety training
  • Identification, evaluation, and control of industrial hygiene exposures
  • Ergonomics
  • Emergency Response
  • Hazards Identification
  • Injury / incident prevention and analysis
  • Hazardous material management
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste
  • May be required to complete hazardous waste management training
  • May be required to complete Emergency Coordinator Training

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting and developing PCC’s industrial safety compliance programs as well as developing an effective injury / incident prevention program, which demonstrates a reduction in injury frequency and severity and a corresponding decrease in workers’ compensation costs.

This position will make recommendations on improvements to programs with data to substantiate the recommendations and will be seen as a safety advisor to the plant’s leadership team.

Experience:

  • 10-15 years of progressive safety, environmental or industrial hygiene experience in a heavy manufacturing setting or as a safety and loss control consultant for a casualty insurer or major insurance broker.
  • Experience with leading and managing safety programs as well as management of a safety team.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental Engineering required, masters preferred. Bachelor or Masters in Chemistry, Biology, Public Health or Engineering acceptable with appropriate workplace experience.
  • CSP or CIH preferred. Candidates who have passed first exams for CSP or CIH certifications also acceptable.

Selected candidate will require strong management, interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills. They will have the ability to effectively develop and communicate PCC’s safety program and vision throughout the organization. They will have the ability to develop and deliver safety training programs and experience in developing business plans. Familiarity with, and ability to negotiate and interface effectively, on PCC’s behalf, with outside regulatory agencies. This position also requires strong assessment and writing skills.

Knowledge of Oregon OSHA, EPA and other applicable regulatory agency requirements. Ability to interpret safety, environmental and industrial hygiene regulations and requirements and determine most effective implementation strategy. A knowledge of workers compensation is a plus.

Advanced personal computing skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required. Working knowledge of safety and industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and techniques.
