The EH&S Intern’s role exists to promote and augment safety. The EH&S Intern must be able to work both independently as well as be a good fit for the safety team. Safety Intern will primarily be performing Haz Com GHS assessments, PPE Assessments and assist with training. • Build rapport with supervisors and line employees • Identify and address hazards • Perform Hazard Assessments • Attend and communicate hazard assessment progress and issues with safety committees and encourage committee problem solving • Research and recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures • Ensure all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees and maintain safe working conditions. • Able to adapt to a flexible, fast-paced and dynamic work environment consistent with PCC’s core values and mission statement • Must be able to maintain and protect confidentiality of sensitive information • Assist with development, implementation, improvement, and sustainment of safety programs • Assist with special safety projects as assigned • Duties not listed within the position description may be required of the intern at the discretion of the Director EH&S. Review a system of safety rules and procedures to prevent accidents and eliminate job hazards
Perform gap analysis on various regulatory programs and complete actions necessary to meet requirements for various PCC safety initiatives
Inspect various facilities competently for safety and environmental compliance
Assist with investigations of work-related accidents/injuries for cause and recommend necessary corrective action
Assist with environmental inspections
Assists with the preparation of requisite local, state, and federal environmental reports
Advise EH&S personnel on EPA and OSHA regulatory development
Conduct JHA’s on various operations and assist in the formation of the JHA’s
Assist in writing and implementing safety policies and procedures with local, state, and federal EPA/OSHA rules and regulations
Assist in writing JSA’s and JHA’s application to the project as defined by the EH&S manager
Write LOTO and confined space machine specific procedures
Updated SDS’s as needed
General EHS compliance tasks and ensure tracking with critical calendar due dates
Knowledge of safety regulations
Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements

Knowledge of safety practices, local, state, federal laws and OSHA standards Understanding of OSHA standard, 29 CFR 1910 US Citizenship or Perm Residency is required due to government military contracts  

Must be flexible and able to work all hours, including weekends and off shifts as required
