Directs and coordinates activities of maintenance workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, utility and environmental systems of the industrial plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.   • Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.

 

  • Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.

 

  • Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture new products or improve existing products under the technical guidance of Plant Engineering.

 

  • Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, gas, and air required for operations. Works with others to ensure reliable electrical service.

 

  • Manages a team of environmental technicians and works alongside the Plant Engineering Environmental Engineer to ensure environmental compliance and procedural adherence.

 

  • Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.

 

  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.

 

  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

 

  • Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.

 

  • Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.

 

  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations within department

 

  • Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with company policies and procedures.

 

  • Develops and implements training programs to ensure that the entire employee base is constantly updated on current company initiatives and/or concepts. These include, but are not limited to: “Lean Manufacturing”, “TPM Programs” and “Employee Empowerment Activities”.

 

  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages 9-10 lead-persons and with a total of 30-50 employees in the Mechanical and Facilities Maintenance Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or eight to ten years related experience in a metal forging facility supervising a minimum of 30 mechanics, millwrights, and/or maintenance support staff; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Must have working knowledge of furnace combustion, refractory, hydraulics, mobile equipment & PIVs (Diesel, Propane, Electric), closed loop colling systems, vacuum systems and chambers, CNC machine tools, refrigeration, and basic control systems.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors and customers.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be computer literate.

Relocation is authorized for this position.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $105000 to $144000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
