• Monthly Surveys /Audits
  • Survey at maximum output first month of each quarter. If workstation is against the cabinet, survey adjoining wall.
  • Survey under working conditions second and third month of the quarter.
  • Send copies to Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) if out of the ordinary.
  • Survey 100% of new machines or relocated machines.
  • Survey machine after maintenance work could affect leakage.
  • X-ray audits for all x-ray departments in Portland Metro area.

• Review and Maintain all X-Ray Logs
  • System checks
  • Chirping / alarming dosimeter
  • Instrument operation check
  • Survey forms
  • Safety audits
  • Yearly basis – archive

• Film Badges
  • Issue dosimetry to all applicable participants: new badge orders, cancels, transfers, lost, found, damaged, spare issue, name change, series changes.
  • Work with vendor for processing.
  • Distribute TLD’s and collect from participants each quarter (fetal badges monthly).
  • Make available to individual employee’s badge exposure reports.
  • Report to RSO any individual who has had an accidental exposure. Form EA-301
  • Investigate exposures.
  • Provide employees being issued TLD badge with form EA-301-D Personnel Monitoring.
  • Notify RSO of new/transferred employees and all exposures (Y form).

• Image Quality Indicators (IQI’s)
  • Order and process all departments in Portland Metro area.
  • Inventory all Penetrameters and blocks yearly.
  • Order needed supplies for maintaining all IQI’s.
  • Recertify Penetrameters and blocks as needed (metal alloy & dimensional).
  • Maintain master log of all Pentrameters and blocks.

• Miscellaneous Duties
  • Maintain chirper inventory (batteries, calibrations, damage).
  • Maintain Ludlum 5’s (batteries, calibrate, damage).
  • Observation audits (6 months) / employee x-ray safety
  • Annual refresher information and testing.
  • Writing radiation safety training and testing.
  • Support for all x-ray departments, shooters, readers, and darkroom operators.
  • Test shots establishing and maintaining both film and techs.
  • NADCAP/customer audits with NDT changing practices and helping with forms and implementation.
  • Create forms for radiation safety.
  • Creating forms for x-ray shooters, readers, and darkroom operators.
  • Work closely with production staff and Maintenance for all x-ray machines and film processors
  • Writing modules
  • Ordering supplies
  • Other duties as assigned by Division Environmental Manager
  • Prenatal training forms and pamphlets.
