Wyman-Gordon, a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC), is a manufacturing leader of Flash Welded and Cold Rolled near net shaped rings for the Aerospace and Gas Turbine Industries.  We are currently seeking a highly motivated Cost Accountant at our Mountaintop facility located in Northeast Pennsylvania. 

Position Overview:

This position will serve as the Cost Accountant to the Wyman Gordon facility in Mountain Top, PA. This position is responsible for performing accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis for the plant finance and accounting department. This includes performing month end close and balance sheet reconciliations, performing the annual standard cost roll, inventory reporting, inventory cost analysis, and supporting the plant Controller with financial analysis and guidance. The Cost Accountant is a problem solver who has the ability to communicate effectively across functional lines.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Maintain accurate standard cost system
  • Compute reserves for slowing moving inventory and lower cost or market analysis
  • Maintain strong control environment around the reporting of inventory balances
  • Perform month end journal entries
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Lead the annual standard cost roll and complete it in accordance with PCC policy
  • Understand how the plant financial system records and values inventory
  • Undertake special projects, ad hoc analysis, and scenario analysis as requested by the Controller
  • Identify unfavorable and favorable manufacturing and purchase price variances and develop corrective actions
  • Work with sales department to accurately cost an item for sale
  • Work in a team environment and drive to improve financial processes through continuous improvement
  • Provide sound financial advice to management and act as a key compliance voice for the plant
  • Assist with Internal Control and Sarbanes Oxley audits
  • Support plant Sarbanes Oxley goals and perform accounting tasks in accordance with company policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Approximately two years of accounting experience in a high-performing environment (manufacturing is a plus)
  • Experience with Oracle is preferred
  • CPA, CMA, and MBA is a plus
  • Attention to detail and committed to work quality
  • Ability to think strategically, see bigger picture, and adapt to changing environment
  • Experience with internal controls and/or Sarbanes Oxley is preferred
