Under direct supervision level one Met Lab Tech performs basic lab tasks such as, preparing parts and mounts for metallurgical examination/inspection and completes paperwork or enters data in computer as required. The tech will demonstrate the ability to follow procedures and work instructions. 0-2 Years

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Prepares mounts through mounting, cutting, grinding, polishing, and etching per procedures/work instructions
  • Picks up tests samples for Heat Treat Inspection and for Surface Processing Inspection. Prepares test samples as required by lab technician or lab supervisor.
  • Assist with break-load testing, plating thickness, or conductivity test under the supervision of lab technician or lab supervisor.
  • Maintain area organization (6S, Basic PM)
  • Complete required documentation
  • Ensures tools and equipment meet standards and calibration requirements.
  • Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

Required Skills:

  • The ability to read and write English.
  • Basic shop math & print reading
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment (Saws, Grinders, Polishers, Microscope, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of materials (Steel, A286, Inconel, etc.)
  • Exercises a high degree of care in the handling of parts to avoid damage.
  • Able to comply with company policy and procedures, including safety, quality, and a
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as business needs demand
  • Metalurgical experience 

Experience & Education

  • 0-2 Years of Experience
  • GED or High School Diploma preferred

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $23.25 to $34.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
