Wyman-Gordon Pennsylvania, a division of Precision Castparts Corporation (PCC), is a manufacturing leader of Flash Welded and Cold Rolled near net shaped rings for the Gas Turbine Industry.  We are currently seeking a highly motivated person to fill an Engineering Intern position for the Mountaintop/Tru-Form facility located in Northeast Pennsylvania. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for process review, identifying and implementing value-added projects in the areas of process control and optimization.  This position works with the Process Engineers on troubleshooting and improving existing processes.  The position requires providing innovative solutions into all phases of manufacturing processes and assigned projects in Safety, Ergonomics, Equipment design, Tool design/manufacture, Non-Linear Process Modeling, Lean initiatives, and Statistical data analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • BS Manufacturing / Mechanical / Material Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of metal forming.
  • Knowledge of computer aided design techniques with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with UG, AutoCad, or 3D Modeling a plus
  • Ability to communicate up, down, and across the organization
  • Experience with Excel and Microsoft office programs.
  • Working knowledge of production and safety procedures used in manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks to meet project objectives and deadlines.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The student will apply principles learned in school to hands-on situations, such as process and product design.
  • The student will be responsible for accomplishing performance goals and will receive progressive responsibility in process and /or product engineering throughout his/her co-op experience.
  • Will identify and recommend process improvements for specified projects.
  • Student will attend training sessions, symposiums and other appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Will perform or review systems analysis, testing, and documentation for existing processes.
  • Will take ownership and responsibility for identified projects.
  • Participate on project teams for assigned projects; analyze improvements and new product or applications and develop requirements and specifications with team. 
  • Work within specifications provided to meet project goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Participate with peers, project team members, and other departments on new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.

Working Conditions

- Works under general direction and infrequent supervision.
- Occasional work required near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequent work in a manufacturing environment.
- Occasional standing and walking required.
