Position Summary:

At the direction of the Quality Department Lead, the person in this role serves as Chemist for Helicomb and leads the laboratory. As a chemist, this team member will perform a variety of lab tasks, including chemical analysis, mechanical testing, and disposal, and must be able to read and interpret technical specifications.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Interpret job router/manufacturing order
  • Perform paint adhesion testing
  • Complete Laboratory testing and reports
  • Performing material recertifications or disposal of expired materials as required
  • Perform periodic solution analysis on process tanks
  • May coordinate needed testing with outside laboratories
  • Monitor shelf life program for Laboratory Standards
  • Maintain and review SPC Log for chemical analysis
  • Perform material acceptance testing as required
  • Be active in Quality Reviews of laboratory
  • Reads and interprets technical specifications
  • Maintains logs of facility monitoring equipment (e.g. temperature and humidity charts)
  • Help maintain NADCAP compliance in Laboratory
  • Actively support and participate in continuous improvement activities, team meetings, and holding him/herself accountable for sustaining improvements.
  • May be required to train and qualify Lab Technicians in all lab functions
  • Learn the role that Helicomb’s wastewater tech plays in order to back up this team member, who does testing & analysis on wastewater and performs a variety of tasks that include chemical treatment of processing water within the limits of the City of Tulsa Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit, recording of daily processing, and routine inspections and monitoring; and handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials in accordance with state and federal laws/standards.

 Education & Experience:

  • Chemistry Degree required
  • Two or more years of relevant experience required. Five or more years preferred.
  • Aerospace experience preferred but not required.
