Job Overview

Work Hours: Administrative Shift, Monday – Friday

Job Summary

With minimum supervision, plans material work orders in synchronization with the dock plan and customer orders.  Plans and monitors the flow of materials from the receipt of demand through the manufacturing processWorks with the Master Scheduler, other planners, and program management  to ensure customer requirements, production schedules and milestones are met.

 

Primary Responsibilities  The Production Control Planner will:

  1. Plans production work orders based on MRP requirements and customers specifications.
  2. Reviews and releases work orders to production. Prepares shop floor packets for each work order.
  3. Plans and reschedules open orders to support changes in MRP demand and availability of capacity.
  4. Updates and maintains status reports and lines of balance (LOB)
  5. Identifies shortages and follows up with the responsible buyer or planner.
  6. Proactively communicates foreseeable issues to next level planners and/or program management
  7. Investigates and resolves issues related to past due shipments/work orders and material shortages.
  8. Ability to analyze data and generate reports. Solid understanding of accountancy variances cost drivers.  Knowledge of ERP application & systems is required.
  9. Recommends planning factors for MRP including but not limited to: safety stock, lead-time, order multipliers, minimum order quantity
  10. Participates in corrective action boards (CAB) when invited and assists with finding and implementing solutions.
  11. Actively participates in continuous improvement teams/events related specifically to planning and scheduling.
  12. General understanding and ability to utilize continuous improvement tools and techniques such as but not limited to: kanban, kaizen, one-piece flow, value stream mapping, integrated product teams, theory of constraints, 6S, RCCA, Lean, and inventory reduction
  13. Coordinates changes to routing instructions and bills of materials with M.E. and engineering when necessary. Updates work center data on released orders to align with master schedule and available capacity.
  14. Reviews capacity and makes limited decisions based on the data. Elevates recommendations for changes and improvements to the Master Scheduler
  15. Coordinates with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering, sales, and other support teams to alleviate constraints to on-time delivery.
  16. Works with program management and engineering to plan and schedule new products through the NPI process without adversely affecting current production. Understands and follows First Article process.
  17. Maintains accurate records and files.
  18. Takes appropriate action to release replacement work orders for defective product, damaged product, scrapped product, inventory shortages, etc and provides recovery plans with dates.
  19. Assists with training and development of level 1 Planners
  20. Frequently reviews quarterly requirements and elevates any risk to the quarterly plan.

Position Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. These duties and responsibilities are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

  • Fluency and proficient in the practical application of MRP logic, scheduling logic, order policies and modifiers, bills of material, routing, kanban material flow, capacity planning, customer required inventory replenishment systems, and other manufacturing strategies.
  • General understanding and ability to read blueprints.
  • Must be a team player with sound judgment and analytical skills
  • Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software and manufacturing MRP/ERP planning systems
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Read, write and understand the English language.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers/suppliers as well as handle multiple priorities in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to work assigned schedule with minimal absences

Education/Previous Experience Requirements:

  • AA degree or equivalent. BA/BS degree in business or technical field preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years planning or related experience. Preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of capacity planning tools and MRP/ERP systems.
  • APICS coursework desired. APICS Certified (CPIM or CSCP) a plus
  • Additional years of related experience will be considered in lieu of education.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $77,600 to $116,400 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
