Drive a strong Safety & Health leadership and promote a Safety Culture at the Toronto Plant and NASC sites.
Collect, organize and present EHS performance data to local and executive leadership teams.
Develop, implement, and coordinate environmental, health, and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Recommend and implement changes in procedures, as necessary, to comply with state, local and federal requirements. Advise management on EPA, DEP and OSHA regulatory development.
Collaborate with operations teams to develop and implement safe work practices.
Ensure timely communication and consultation regarding safety incidents and best practices.
Conduct or direct research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of a given system, operation, or process.
Take a proactive approach to auditing and reviewing the performance of local safety teams to identify and close any gaps in performance or skillset.
Ensure consistency in programs and policies across all NA Mill Product sites.
Compile, analyze, and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illnesses and accidents and prepares reports for information of personnel concerned.
Assist engineering / maintenance in capital expenditure projects.
Provide environmental guidance to reduce waste streams, improve recycling initiatives, and projects to enhance the reduction in the overall environmental footprint at the Toronto Mill and NASC sites.
Manage and budget Workers’ Compensation Program costs to reduce liability and reserves.
Plan, budget, and direct Purchase Accounting Safety Projects.
Direct and oversee completion of environmental permits and reports to appropriate federal, state, and local agencies.
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred, with 10 - 15 year’s experience. Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus.
Proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status in order to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with executives, employees, management, and outside contractors.
Ability to work in union environment.
Knowledge of OSHA, OHIO BWC, NFPA, EPA, & DOT Standards and industrial accepted safe work practices.
Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Access, Word).
Excellent technical writing skills
