Job Title: Materials - Shipping & Receiving

Department: Materials

Summary:

This position will verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment. This position will compare identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of daily shipments, including working on system shipment and documentation, staging and packing the parts if necessary, making sure we use the right packaging and paperwork.
  • Load shipment into van or truck; determine address where package is going; ensure address on package matches up to delivery address.
  • Receives and unloads incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
  • Collaborates with Inventory control to count parts in Cycle count and Physical Inventory.
  • Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
  • Operation of dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; will band and shrink wrap palletized orders for shipment.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Must have experience operating a Hi-Lo.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 35 pounds).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
