Purpose

This position shall report to the Director of Quality. They will be tasked with qualification and certification of NDT personnel to NAS 410, auditing NDT systems at their assigned facility and evaluation and compliance of all NDT processes and systems. The NDTE (Steel) Manager shall be Level Ill certified and shall be recognized internally and externally as a technical expert in their field. They are to be competent to act as a technical liaison representing PCC as a prime technical contact.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Prepare and verify work instructions for NDT methods to be in compliance with customer specifications for the applicable campus.
  2. Train, test and certify NDT inspectors in the method(s) and techniques certified per the latest revision of PCC's Quality Control procedures.
  3. Analyzes and interpret inspection quality data, conduct research on product defects, and recommend modification in products or quality standards, where such appear to be warranted.
  4. Serves as liaison with customers on items NDT related inspection and visit customers and suppliers where necessary on specific inspection matters.
  5. Provide guidance and expertise to sales, engineering and manufacturing on NDT issues with regards to customer inquires.
  6. Perform system audits on all NDT areas of the assigned campus.
  7. Assist in the development of new NDT process and procedures with regards to new technology and customer approval of that technology.
  8. Insure compliance with customer and government regulations as pertaining to the inspection departments, including ability to interpret codes standards and other contractual documents.
  9. Assist Operational and Quality leadership as required and directed in all aspects of the NDT inspection process.
  10. Obtain individual customer Level 3 certification where necessary.
  11. Develop new inspection methods and/or programs that promote cost reduction.
  12. Assist other Structurals Division sites as directed by the Director of Quality.
  13. Assist in developing cost reduction initiatives as assigned by the Director of Quality.
  14. Work with the Director of Quality in maintaining customer satisfaction.
  15. Evaluate effectiveness of training program to the needs of the organization.
     

Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of 3 to 5 years aerospace and investment casting experience required.
  2. Certified (or certifiable within 120 days) ASNT Level Ill in Penetrant (PT) and Magnetic Particle (MT). Level Ill in Radiographic Testing (RT) and Level 3 IN Digital Radiographic Testing (DRT) or other methods may be required.
  3. Must have excellent communication and analytical skills.
