Location Profile:

Position Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) Intern will assist the EH&S Department in developing, implementing, coordinating, and maintaining EH&S programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations.

This internship is on-site and can be part-time (20+hours/ week) or full-time, with the schedule determined based on availability and course load.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve on various EH&S related committees (Site safety committee, 6S committee, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Team).
  • Gather and maintain records of all required environmental reporting.
  • Coordinate and maintain documentation of safety and environmental training for new hires and employees.
  • Assist with plant safety inspections, document non-conformances, and advise proper corrective action. 
  • Participate in process reviews (such as process hazard analyses, etc.).
  • Update the site’s chemical inventory and safety data sheet library.
  • Work with the EH&S Manager to develop machine specific lock out tag out procedures.
  • Administrator to the EH&S Management software, Gensuite.
  • Assist with management of incoming safety concern reports including assignment to the proper department and tracking reports to closure.
  • Assist with monthly sustainability data entry reporting.
  • Assist with injury/illness and non-injury incident investigations to determine causal factors.
  • Assist in conducting New Hire safety Orientation.
  • Partner with leads and manufacturing personnel to review and update job hazard analysis documents.
  • Creates presentations to report on current projects to Leadership team.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

Required Skills:

  • Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; other productivity tools. 
  • Able to read and interpret Cal OSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational and verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

 

Required Experience:

  • Prior experience as an EH&S intern desired but not required.

 

Level of Education:

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. or B.A. Degree preferably in Environmental and Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, or related technical field.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $21.00 to $31.50 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 0  hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
