The IT co-op/intern will assist in all plant networks and systems, which includes activities to support the company’s IT infrastructure. The intern will serve in accordance with local plant personnel and PCC Metals Group IT Organization. The intern will work approximately 50% inside a standard office environment and 50% inside a production environment.

The IT co-op/intern will report to the IT Site Liaison.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Check computer hardware to ensure functionality
  • Monitor and maintain availability of computer hardware on site
  • Installs personal computers, software, and peripheral equipment
  • Assist with network and server support as needed
  • Strives to promptly resolve technical support issues and address user questions and requests at the instruction of the IT Service Desk
  • Troubleshoot to diagnose and resolve errors

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Enrolled in a 4-year Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology program
  • Must be able to commit to 6 months or the duration of the summer
  • Must be able to reliably commute or relocate
  • Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds if needed
  • Must be able to think quickly and take action

Required Skills  

  • Knowledge of related engineering discipline functional and technical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Access)
  • Strong writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • Critical problem analysis, decision making and analytical abilities
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an environment where business and team needs may change
