Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate flow of parts through changeover and clean-out process.
  • Will operate forklifts and cranes daily.
  • Rough clean furnace parts as needed.
  • Grit-blast all furnace parts as directed.
  • Keep area clean.  Blast in an efficient manner such that the "To-Be-Blasted-Area" remains as empty as possible.
  • Dispose of all unrecyclable grit and waste in the proper containers.
  • Process and dispose of wet dust collector sludge in proper waste stream.
  • Knowledge and participation in the site's hazardous waste program is helpful.
  • Understand grit recycling requirements and be able to operate recycling equipment as needed.
  • Blast skulls, slab-ends and other material as needed.
  • Inspect and recommend repairs to the vibrating feeder assembly.  Replace components (i.e. tube, O-ring seats, hoses, etc) to minimize the possibility of unscheduled failures.
  • Maintain all equipment associated with the blasting operations both stationary and portable units.
  • Recommend modifications to improve reliability and productivity of E.B. Furnaces as appropriate.  Fabricate/install modifications as authorized.  Work with management to develop solutions to recurring problems.  Follow solutions and modifications through the installation.  Follow up to evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken.
  • Accept responsibility for performing other general repairs, reliability and productivity improvements, and process development projects as assigned.
  • Periodically review mechanical parts and supplies inventory levels as assigned and submit recommendations for appropriate inventory quantities.
  • Assist Finished Product Technicians with conditioning, packaging, clean up, organizational and shipping requirements as assigned.
  • Receive supplies and material whenever necessary.

Education & Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED required; trade school or additional training preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. Mechanical assembly experience highly preferred
  • Ability to work with heavy rigging, piping, weld and torch cut
  • Forklift, crane-operating experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs
  • Able to work holidays and weekends
