Review new and revised external specifications used by SPS Technologies for business impact.
Participate in the NADCAP MTL task group.
Revise internal material and process specifications as necessary.
Participate on Special Process projects and audits (Heat Treat, NDT, Plating).
Participate in Continuous Improvement projects with other technical co-workers.
Coordinate external Round Robins via a Third Party on mechanical, metallurgical and corrosion testing of materials and fastener products.
Coordinate internal Round Robins for technician proficiencies in testing and evaluating results.
Document lab failures and perform trend analyses.
Oversee raw material receipt discrepancies.
Complete Receiving Inspection Reports on non-conforming material.
Disposition alternate material requests from Purchasing.
Prepare and submit material Substitution FORMS to customers.
Lead multi-discipline team to disposition lab and NDT failures.
• Master’s Degree in related field preferred.
• 5-10 years metallurgy experience in Aeronautical fasteners manufacturing preferred.
- Analytical skills – Six Sigma certification or similar problem-solving methodology.
- Team coordination – Work with manufacturing teams to collaborate on process improvements and problem solving.
- Problem-solving skills –Excellent problem-solving skills to determine innovative ways to improve processes and resolve issues related to manufacturing and design. Experience with 8 Disciplines methodology as defined in AS13000:2014 and or A3 TPS problem solving methodology preferred.
- Communication skills – Establish and maintain daily oral and verbal communications with department teams. Write and or contribute to reports to support: RCCA, findings regarding customer related investigations, site process development projects.
