GENERAL SUMMARY: 

This position is responsible for meeting standard procedures related to removing positive material (gates, welds) and removing indications. Position blends or grinds FPI, X-Ray, and In-Process Visual blending as indicated.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Perform work in the areas of Grinding in a safe, productive, and efficient manner on all in-process castings.
  2. Assure travelers, rework cards and discrepancy tags are properly completed.
  3. Maintain accurate documentation; organize time efficiently while focusing on priorities.
  4. Ability to blend difficult radius to gages and blend gates flush.
  5. Ability to accurately mark parts for welding operation.
  6. Understand the operations and flow of parts through the process.
  7. Responsible for safe work practices by adhering to safety rules, safely operating all equipment and tools, identifying and reporting any safety problems.
  8. Maintain a safe and orderly workstation.
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work well with limited supervision.
  2. Ability to lead others and answer questions pertaining to the job and process this includes training of new hires.
  3. Work in a safe conscientious manner adheres to safety rules.
  4. Communicate both orally and in writing to co-workers and supervisor.
  5. Ability to work with hands and posses a good mechanical aptitude.
  6. Ability to work varying shifts as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work with hand and power tools consistently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to write, read reports and work instructions, and demonstrate basic computer and program navigation.
  • Must have the ability to stoop, bend and reach different areas of parts to perform daily job functions.
  • Ability to exert up to 35 pounds force to lift and move castings for short distances.
