Mission:

Support plant and department objectives by developing & implementing process control improvements. Audits the process and employees to assure conformance with best practices and instructions. Works with ops, Engineering, and shop floor personnel to improve adherence to instructions and reduce process variability.

 

Principle Accountabilities:

Objective: Improve manufacturing performance by reducing process variation and increasing workmanship quality.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Collect and analyze process control data.
  2. Conduct daily workmanship audits and keep up quality data systems.
    1. Review of casting leaving/entering a workcenter including visual, dimensional, and workmanship
    2. Immediate feedback if possible to any workmanship issues found
  3. Conduct daily Process Control Audits and work with Engineering/Supervisors/operators to decrease failed audits.
  4. Work with backend teams to route projects parts and reduce BE rework, scrap and reHT’s due to workmanship issues or non-robust processes.
  5. Utilize and promote data-based decision making.
  6. Work with engineering on process development and improvement.
  7. Update &/or author process documentation as necessary.
  8. Compile and issue weekly reports as required.
  9. Provide hands-on training on the use of process control systems and manufacturing best practices.
  10. Monitor improvements for sustained control.
  11. Be available as backup Post Hip inspector.
  12. May be required to help out operations teams if approved by process control manager.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

 

Safety:

Objective: To take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Typical Activities:

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.

 

Training:

- Training is provided on the job.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  2. Advanced Grinder skills as demonstrated by the competent performance of a rework grinder duties and/or experience in Visual/Dimensional duties. Welding experience is desired but not required.
  3. Six-Sigma Green Belt or willingness to achieve.
  4. Ability to relate professionally with a diverse workforce and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  5. Ability to be able to provide constructive feedback, both positive and negative, to co-workers. This includes hourly and salary positions.
  6. Innovative mindset that searches out creative solutions to new and old problems.
  7. Ability to multi-task while properly prioritizing work load; must be highly organized.
  8. Ability to use various computer systems and software including Excel, Word, Access, Microsoft Outlook Email, Internet and others as required.
  9. Ability to work independently and as a team member, and to give and receive instructions and training.
  10. Ability and desire to continue education and take classes to improve job skills as needed.
  11. Willingness to take PCC training courses related to the processing of castings (i.e. Rework Analyst class, NDT classes, etc.)
  12. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed by projects, off shift inspection/training, and Post Hip Inspection needs
  13. Ability/Willingness to travel to other plants for benchmarking and process improvement needs.
  14. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  15. 20/30 correctable Vision and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision.
