PURPOSE:

This position involves a wide variety of job conditions and off-hour responsibility for plant facilities, which are unique to the Maintenance function.  The Supervisor of Maintenance directs the Maintenance departments to prepare and fulfill repair, construction, and preventive maintenance schedules which maximize the availability of production equipment and facilities throughout the plant and office areas.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:          

  • Direct the Maintenance department to prepare and fulfill repair and construction schedules which maximize the availability of production equipment and facilities throughout the plants and office areas.
  • Uphold all safety and housekeeping standards required for the facility.
  • Supervise staff: train and assign employees, update the training data base; monitor performance and administer discipline.
  • Review previous shift activity and maintenance issues; take appropriate corrective action, close out work orders and PM inspections in the system as required.
  • Maintain a minimum safe supply of critical spare parts, directs preventive maintenance programs.
  • Guidance of maintenance work force toward compliance with repair specifications and quality of work.
  • Cost responsibilities pertaining to repairs and other maintenance budgeting issues.
  • Insure a well-trained and properly motivated workforce.
  • Develop continuous improvement activities to create efficient utilization of employees.
  • Develop safe and well- maintained departmental areas.
  • Effectively interprets and administers the Company and bargaining unit document consistent with good management procedures.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or technical certification and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Thorough technical and mechanical knowledge.
  • PLC, Control, AC / DC drive, Combustion control, high voltage experience required
  • Journeyman license preferred
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in Heavy Manufacturing (Steel making, automotive or forging preferred)
  • Union shop experience preferred
  • Documented continuous improvement
  • Experience in maintenance planning and CMMS system a plus
  • Basic computer skills: data management and analysis; word processing; spreadsheets, email and internet.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Plant working conditions: hazardous, dirty and subject to weather and temperature extremes.
  • Serve on an on-call basis (24/7), responding to issues and concerns.
