Designs and implement relational databases in a multi-system 24x7 environment. Develop strategies for data acquisitions, backups, archive recovery, and general implementation of a database for testing and production use. Cleans and maintains databases by archiving old data, building indexes, installing updates, and optimizing for performance. Evaluate software tools to facilitate database support. Act as liaison with vendors and interface with MIS staff for application development and daily support activities. Keep informed of current information technology and business applications. Assist management in developing future data management strategies including IaaS/PaaS solutions.

 

Duties:

1. Create, maintain, document, and manage an enterprise database environment for production and development systems including MFG Process Control, ERP, HR, Data warehousing, and miscellaneous applications.

 

2. Administration of relational database software including:

  • Version installation, patches, and upgrades.
  • Create database architecture, design and implement files, tables, security, stored procedure and processes.
  • Develop and monitor procedures for database backup and recovery.
  • Support data conversions.
  • IaaS, PaaS cloud database implementations
  • Support ETL technology
  • Data warehouse and data analytics support
  • Capacity planning, performance optimizing and monitoring.
  • Provide problem resolution in routine and emergency situations.

 

3. Assist with Linux, MS Windows system administration including:

  • Assist with version installation, patches, and upgrades
  • 3rd party software support.
  • Create and maintain shell scripts.
  • Maintain directories and file systems for test and production environments utilizing SAN technology and data backup/restore systems
  • Assist with system security.
  • Capacity planning, performance optimizing and monitoring.
  • Provide problem resolution in routine and emergency situations.

 

4. Application support:

  • Migration of application code and object in dev, test, and production environments.
  • Applications database production support
  •  Application database architecture and performance
  •  Application database IaaS and PaaS cloud solution support

 

5. Consulting with MIS Management on strategic directions and technological advancements

 

6. Contribute and conform to the development and execution of MIS policies and procedures including SOX.

 

7. Off-shift and weekend database, application, and systems support.

 

8. Disaster recovery planning and testing.

 

Requirements:

  1. Education: B.S. degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent DBA training and experience. Formal training and/or certification in Oracle database administration. Experience in MS SQL server database administration.
  2. 8 years of experience as an Oracle DBA in medium to large information technology infrastructure. 2 years of experience with MS SQL Server. Formal training and/or experience in application development.
  3. Demonstrated experience in manufacturing Process Control and enterprise MRP data management business systems
  4. Proven problem-solving skills
  5. Excellent typing, system documentation, and communication skills.
  6. Background with the following environments, hardware, and software:
    • Hardware: Windows/Linux servers.
    • Operating Systems: Linux and Windows servers. VMware
    • Databases: Oracle, MS SQL Server, Standby DB, NOSQL
    • Support Tools: Veeam Backup, Vsphere, Enterprise manager, ETL technology
    • Languages: Unix/Linux shell scripts, PL/SQL, TSQL, Powershell, Stored procedures
    • IaaS and PaaS cloud solution experience
    • Data warehouse, data analytics architecture and support
    • Effective and efficient use of MS Office software and communication products
