PROCESS CONTROL TECHNICIAN III

 Mission:

To plan, schedule, supervise and perform a wide variety of procedures, processes, audits or inspections and experiments. To apply in-depth knowledge in major field to complex problems and new technologies. To plan and execute major projects from general guidelines.  May be required to work with hazardous waste. When required, perform production work in qualified and certified level of expertise to understand specific problems or events reported by the back-end departments.  This Technician leads problem or special projects to develop techniques that decrease rework, improve efficiency of operators whilst meeting product specifications.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Execute Process Control Engineering directed experiments/tests and audits.
  2. Provide solutions to complex problems in major technical/production field by applying a wide variety of existing techniques, processes and procedures as well as developing new techniques. Has responsibility for solutions requiring in-depth knowledge, research, innovation, and management of multi-faceted systems.
  3. Plan, schedule, complete and evaluate large projects. Create and/or track to project milestone plan.
  4. Create manufacturing instructions.
  5. Analyze manufacturing productivity and efficiency by using PCC data management system.
  6. Gather, record, analyze and summarize data in various formats; prepares technical reports of results; evaluates projects goals and processes.
  7. Provide hands-on demonstration or training for new processes and techniques in areas of expertise.
  8. Provide technical expertise, project supervision and back-end operators; provides technical expertise to and acts as liaison with other department personnel, customers, and vendors.
  9. Create and submit to supervision performance feedback on back-end operators when needed.
  10. When requested by the Process Control manager, perform all duties of the certification level the technician holds.
  11. Auditing of the rework teams conformance to tech cards/QCM/PCP/SOPS and training and or document updates on any findings.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

- Training is provided on the job.

 Qualifications:

  1. 5 or more years of back-end process experience with minimum of 1 certification achieved in one of the following: Rework Analyst, VISUAL/DIMENSIONAL, FPI, Welding and/or Rework Grind.  
  2. For any other area: Demonstrated understanding of areas core competencies.
  3. Knowledge on how to use inspection tools
  4. Six-Sigma Green Belt or willingness to achieve.
  5. Ability to relate professionally with a diverse workforce and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  6. Ability to be able to provide constructive feedback, both positive and negative, to co-workers. This includes hourly and salary positions.
  7. Innovative mindset that searches out creative solutions to new and old problems.
  8. Ability to multi-task while properly prioritizing workload; must be highly organized.
  9. Ability to use various computer systems and software including Excel, Word, Access, Microsoft Outlook Email, Internet, Tibco WebFocus and others as required.
  10. Ability to work independently and as a team member, and to give and receive instructions and training.
  11. Ability and desire to continue education and take classes to improve job skills as needed.
  12. Willingness to take PCC training courses related to the processing of castings (i.e. Rework Analyst class, NDT classes, etc.)
  13. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed by projects and off shift inspection/training.
  14. Demonstrated ability to write and follow detailed work instructions, create process and training records and make progress observations and accurately record technical data required.
  15. Ability/Willingness to travel to other plants for benchmarking and process improvement needs.
  16. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  17. 20/30 correctable Vision and satisfactory passage of depth perception and color vision.
