Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines.  Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

 

Location Profile

Located in South Gate, CA., Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services, our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services, and heat treat capability.


Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will design manufacturing layouts, processes, and procedures for equipment installation, machining, material handling and testing. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing current manufacturing processes and ensuring they are capable of meeting requirements for quality, cost, delivery, and lead time. They will support eliminating waste in the manufacturing process, applying innovative systems to improve company workflows, and consistently measuring manufacturing behaviors and evaluating their success.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency and safety by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Complete new equipment and development projects by training and guiding shop employees.
  • Develops and documents manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot production problems as required.
  • Performs root cause investigations to support production technical issues.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

 

  • A strong technical aptitude, along with the ability to work independently, yet interact closely with other departments, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry specifications, customer specifications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Effective verbal, written and computer skills required as well as mathematical, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Capable of using CAD, Minitab, Mastercam, CNC and others.
  • Demonstrated persistence, self-motivation, and display an effort to continually improve performance. 
  • High attention to detail.

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • Engineering experience in a destructive lab environment.
  • Aerospace industry.
  • Lean Six Sigma certified

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Four (4) years minimum related hands-on experience in a machine shop setting, with in-depth knowledge of manual and CNC lathes, mills, and grinders.
  • New equipment procurement and development experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $76500 to $114700 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
