Summary

The Senior Information Technology Operations Architect (SITOA) is responsible for the administration, execution, and architecture of the Metals Disaster Recovery Program and associated fields relating to security, and operations.  The Senior Information Technology Operations Architect will be the primary resource for Site Design including hardware selection, storage, and VMware. The Senior Information Technology Operations Architect will ensure compliance with PCC Corporate IT Policy and compliance and reporting for Sarbanes Oxley.  The individual must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a strong background in working with enterprise application administrators, business owners and senior management.  In addition, the ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience with advanced storage principals, including database storage design, storage virtualization, data center replication technologies and concepts. 

Primary Responsibilities

Disaster Recovery

  • Assure the effectiveness and implementation of Disaster Recovery architecture including recovery procedures and backup capabilities. 
  • Establish disaster recovery testing methodologies and develop, document, and review technical standards and procedures. Prepare and Publish DR Test Reports
  • Lead technical recovery exercises encompassing Continuous Operations, Live Failovers, and Offline Testing encompassing a broad range of recovery and replication methodologies.
  • Use your communication skills to provide calm and professional crisis management for the divisions during disasters or business interruptions.
  • Conducts business impact analyses and assists business units to determine critical business processes, identifies acceptable recovery time periods, and establishes resources required for the successful resumption of business operations in the event of a disaster.
  • Govern and track applications’ compliance to DR standards and their remediation and provide governance reporting.

VMWare & Storage Responsibilities

  • Proactively manages storage microcode, firmware, and operating system levels to ensure vendor and security team recommended versions and patches are applied.
  • Responsible for performance, availability, scalability, and storage capacity management of the storage infrastructure
  • Provides evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems, ensuring appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems.
  • Responsible for performance, availability, and scalability of the backup infrastructure ensuring the integrity of the infrastructure on a day-to-day basis.
  • Provide implementation, configuration, deployment and ongoing support of the VMware vSphere server infrastructure hosting enterprise applications and all of its subcomponents NSX, Distributed Switches, vCAC/vRA, vRO, Update Manager, Single Sign-on, vDP
  • Performs and supports problem resolution efforts for storage performance, access/permissions and other concerns across a multi-vendor, multi-datacenter storage infrastructure.
  • Responsible for planning future requirements, trends, and changes to meet existing and future business demands.
  • Actively participate in project technical designs with service architects concentrating on virtual environment designs and document them.
  • Design and architect new systems and enhancements to existing infrastructure fit for business.

General Responsibilities

  • Adapt daily to changing environment requirements and manage multiple tasks.
  • Provide reporting for Sarbanes-Oxley audits and internal audits.
  • May be required to work nights and weekends during (un)planned outages and other special circumstances, will need to respond to severe incident escalation on-call
  • Lead team initiatives and coach junior team members
  • Assume total responsibility for work assigned and deliver on commitments.
  • Preparing architectural design documentation, including diagrams and inventories
  • Evaluating hardware sizing to meet application requirements.
  • Document system design and related processes
  • Experience with Unix/Linux Windows Server administration and operation

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in a related field or recognized qualifications in Computer Science, Business, or a related discipline; equivalent experience and/or current certifications acceptable substitutes.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • 10 plus years’ experience in an IT Administration Role, or experience in a Disaster Recovery or Business Continuity role in a major corporation or manufacturing firm
  • VMware VCP, MCSA, MCSE certifications a plus
  • Azure/AWS/Google Cloud Architecture experience or certification
  • Strong scripting tool and script writing skills (examples: VB Script, Perl, Windows Command, .NET, PowerShell)
  • Some travel may be required to PCC facilities or vendor training.
  • Excellent English communication and customer service abilities
