MISSION:

Maintain daily operation; Receive and ship all materials at the receiving area in a timely manner; to control all documentation and coordinate materials received or shipped with purchasing, accounting and user departments; to provide daily inventories. Maintain truck fleet; preventative maintenance, licensing, tax tracking, and route efficiencies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Receiving 

Objective:  to ensure proper completion of inbound freight.

Typical Activities:

  1. Unloads freight with forklift, manually or by other mechanical means.
  2. Verifies all weights and counts with freight bills/packing slips and checks for damage after shipment is unloaded; signs freight bills and notes any damage or shortages.
  3. Marks all materials with PCC lot numbers; assures vendor compliance with PCC purchasing specifications regarding packaging and marking; inspects materials per PCP's.
  4. Completes Material Proving form; forwards all paperwork to appropriate departments.
  5. Stages materials for testing by lab.
  6. Inputs information on received goods into computerized inventory system; notes any differences from packing slips.

2. Shipping

Objective:  to stage, process and load outbound freight.

Typical Activities:

  1. Stages outbound shipments.
  2. Coordinates with Shipping on outside shipments.
  3. Forwards all paperwork on shipped materials to appropriate departments.
  4. Issues or removes previously received, rejected materials from computerized inventory system.

3. Warehousing and Requisitions 

Objective:  to efficiently and safely warehouse materials and to distribute requisitioned materials in a timely manner. 

Typical Activities:

  1. Warehouses materials, keeping lots together; assures efficient use of warehouse space.
  2. Receives requisitions from user departments; verifies materials are in stock, notifies if unavailable.
  3. Fills daily requisitions; pulls stock for distribution to manufacturing areas.
  4. Assures proper rotation of stock (first in/first out) when warehousing and filling orders.
  5. Performs cycle counts.
  6. Maintains warehouse areas and Division owned vehicles in clean, orderly condition.

 4. Fleet Planning and Maintenance

Objective:  Oversee the company-managed vehicles or leased, owned, and rental vehicles, including scheduling, DOT compliance, maintenance, and safety records. Coordinates teams and helps schedule vehicles and drivers.

Typical Activities:

  1. Plan loadings, pickups, and delivery schedules, and driver schedules.
  2. Track and monitor vehicle spending IE: Fuel cards, and spending, report to manager.
  3. Work with outside vendors and organizations when appropriate IE: scheduling maintenance or purchasing equipment for vehicles.
  4. Collaborate and maintain high levels of communication with all stakeholders.
  5. Plan and schedule vehicle maintenance to ensure vehicles compliance.
  6. Resolution of breakdowns, including coordination of the repair and communication to key stakeholders.
  7. Establish and maintain vendor partnerships to ensure quality and reliable work.
  8. Identifies trends and recommends corrective action measures when needed.

 5. Record  Keeping and Reporting

Objective: to accurately record and report activities and inventories.

Typical Activities:

  1. Completes material testing forms.
  2. Maintains scrap and element lot number log book; maintains metal lot number log for warehouse material.
  3. Provides accurate, detailed daily inventories to management.
  4. Provides accurate warehouse activity reports (pounds and dollars) to supervisor.
  5. Maintain PM schedule for all Division owned vehicles.
  6. Track and process road tax.
  7. Maintain necessary licensings for Division owned vehicles.
  8. Daily inspection log review for Division owned vehicles.
  9. Monitor and ensure the fleet complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
  10. Maintain accurate DOT records for vehicles.

6. Coordination.

Objective:  to maintain warehouse effectiveness by coordination with internal and external organizations.

Typical Activities:

  1. Communicates with PCC Traffic personnel, outside trucking companies and vendors regarding freight movement.
  2. Works with Accounting on inventory, computer and invoice issues.
  3. Works with Purchasing and Traffic to plan delivery dates.
  4. Works with Planners to schedule metals for PCC facilities.
  5. Communicates obsolescence to management for disposition.
  6. Tracks and reports budgetary usage and needs to Management.
  7. Reviews daily staffing needs, coordinates with management to meet daily requirements.
  8. Communicates and applies process improvements in all aspects of department.

7. Safety.

Objective:  to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices. 

Typical Activities:

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all machines and equipment.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.
  4. Work with EHS to adhere to storage requirements of specialized materials.
  5. Support designated accident/incident reporting for the companies manages vehicles.
  6. Partner with management and Safety to ensure proper safety measures are adhered to.
  7. Ensuring vehicle auditing practices are adhered to.
  8. Performs other tasks as directed.
  9. May be required to handle hazardous waste.

TRAINING:

  1. Training is provided on the job.
  2. PCC's Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  3. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training. 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. At least four years of experience in warehousing operations, CDL driving experience, receiving, issuing and shipping raw materials.

OR

An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  1. Previous experience with and demonstrated knowledge of computerized inventory control systems.
  2. Previous forklift experience preferred.
  3. Ability to read and follow instructions.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to organize one's time and workload effectively, and to work independently.
  6. Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing forty to sixty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred pounds.
  7. Ability to work in difficult working conditions, which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
  8. Knowledge of commercial equipment.
  9. proficient skills in the computer programs applicable to this position. Outlook, Word, Excel.
  10. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  11. Knowledge of vehicle and equipment services, registration, and documentation.
  12. Knowledge of DOT regulations.
  13. Skilled in excellent customer service and solving problems.
