SUMMARY

Operation, maintenance and programming of Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Romer Arm, and calibration and control of measuring instruments by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.  In performing functions, duties or tasks, employees are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of Company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations. Analyzes dimensional data against part models to determine part conformity. 

 

Utilizes customer specifications, drawings, PC-DMIS, and VERISURF software or equipment.

 

Coordinates dimensional inspection schedules with Production Control Department.

 

Prepares CMM programs for inspection of product, utilizing drawings, parts lists, CAD models, etc.

 

Performs inspections using CMM, Romer or inspection tools.

 

Reviews product discrepancies with Engineering, Machine Shop, Quality Control Conditioning or Saw Departments.

 

Writes inspection procedures for work instructions.

 

Trains dimensional measuring employees in all phases of dimensional inspection.

 

Develops LEAN inspection procedures to maximize efficiency.

 

Interprets drawings and specifications to determine conformance to all requirement.

 

Assists QC Dimensional Supervisor as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; five years experience using dimensional measuring equipment, including hand layout tools and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM); three to four years experience in programming a CMM or Romer Arm; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Experienced in the use of hand tools (micrometer, calipers and gages).

Excellent knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, datums, tooling parts, etc.  Good legible handwriting.

Program CMM using PCDMIS.

Program Romer Arms using PCDMIS.

Knowledge of ISO-10012-1, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.

Ability to perform and evaluate ANSE B89.1 test.

Ability to operate Romer Arm and Laser Scanning Systems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $19.50 to $38.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
