EHS Co-Op job duties

 

  • Manage Hand and Finger audits across the plant.  Looking for any location where employees are placing their hands which may cause injuries.
  • Lead a Hand and Finger team with the Union to find new ways to keep our employees safe.
  • Shop safety audits looking for unsafe conditions.  Also looking for FOD and restricted practices that are still in the process areas.
  • Work with EHS team on removal of forklift and pedestrian interface.
  • Conduct environmental audits to ensure the company is following compliance with permits.
  • Support with environmental issues that may arise during demolition of buildings within the plant.

Education & Experience

 

  • Enrolled in a 4-year Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety program.
  • Must be able to commit to 6 months or the duration of the summer.
  • Must be able to reliably commute or relocate.
  • Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds if needed.
  • Must be able to think quickly and take action.

Required Skills  

  • Knowledge of related engineering discipline functional and technical skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, and Access)
  • Strong writing skills and interpersonal skills
  • Critical problem analysis, decision making and analytical abilities
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an environment where business and team needs may change
