Summary

The Health, Safety, & Environment Co-Op will assist in all plant health, safety and environmental programs, which includes activities to support the coordination of safety initiatives, projects, corrective actions, and incident investigations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in recognizing, evaluating and providing solutions to health, safety & environmental concerns.
  • Recommend changes to safety programs and work practices. 
  • Assist in the development of new safety programs and initiatives to increase awareness, and reduce the potential for incidents, accidents and exposures.
  • Support the revision of safety and health programs to increase awareness and reduce exposure risk.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits / assessments.  Report findings.  Take action to address findings.
  • Participate in incident investigations and issue safety corrective action requests (SCARs) as necessary.
  • Support Morgantown plant new employee orientation training.
  • Review and assist in the evaluation of effectiveness of training and recommend changes.
  • Stay current on the various regulatory (OSHA 1910 and 1926) requirements and changes.  Continue an active personal/professional development program through selected seminars, home study courses, trade magazines, books, journals, etc.
  • Provide support for any other Morgantown HSE program

 

Education & Experience

  • Enrolled in a 4 year college HSE engineer program or engineering program with interest/concentration in HSE
  • MUST be able to commit to 6 months
  • A GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds if needed

Relocation is authorized for this position.
