Position Summary:

The Associate Operations Manager is responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. Responsible for satisfying all safety, quality, and productivity requirements in the most cost effective manner. This position requires significant initiative and the ability to deliver results in an aerospace environment. The successful candidate will be able to develop, implement, and achieve ambitious stretch goals and have a proven track record of developing talent in their direct reports. This individual will supervise employees who install, maintain, and repair industrial processing and manufacturing equipment. Responsible for overall facilities maintenance and planning, including but not limited to grounds and permitting, machine and tooling upkeep and janitorial services.

Reporting Structure

The Associate Operations Manager will report directly to the Operations and Engineering Manager

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and communication to the Machine Shop team to ensure understanding and attainment of performance objectives and monthly shipment plan
  • Maintain operational focus, prioritize tactical plans, measure actual performance against plan, implement counter measures where appropriate and drive lean/continuous improvement initiatives
  • Direct, coordinate, and supervise the activities of Maintenance team
  • Work as the primary point of contact for managing building and grounds services
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and resources to meet production requirements
  • Work with appropriate IT/Production personnel to implement and maintain necessary resources (tools, PCs, floor space, etc.)
  • Promote understanding of PCC tools and principles to ensure continuous improvement
  • Manage direct reports; establish schedule, quality, and cost targets; delegate to direct reports or teams with direct reports to accomplish goals
  • Work with other managers to coordinate and align business unit operations and activities; plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and resources to meet goals
  • Partner with HR and direct reports to resolve problems, complaints, or grievances; forecast staffing and participate in the selection process
  • Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental safety, efficiency, productivity, quality, cooperation, and morale
  • Partner with Quality to align goals with Business Quality Management System (BQMS)
  • Champion Six Sigma and facilitate lean initiatives
  • Develop and deploy management metrics
  • Support IT and Production with long-range resource plans
  • May perform special projects
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of and ability to apply budgeting process and financial management tools
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, and costs
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing work area practices, including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work center metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices
  • Demonstrated ability to manage more complex processes, procedures, and functions
  • Knowledge of ERP and similar production management systems
  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocations; corporate and human resources policies and benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods
  • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Consider costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Proactive communicator who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels
  • Able to establish and communicate clear priorities and to influence others to support and act on those priorities
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines

 

Required Experience:

  • 10 years related experience
  • 5+ years in a leadership experience

 

Level of Education:

  • BS/MS in engineering or management field preferred; or equivalent experience

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $105000 to $115000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
