Under direct supervision of level two NDT tech, level one NDT tech performs basic NDT tasks such as staging work, moving product through the NDT process and miscellaneous support tasks. Level one NDT tech will demonstrate the ability to interpret work orders and follow work instructions. NDT techs will work to complete NAS410 hour requirements per proces. 0-1 YOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist Nondestructive Testers to process work. Load and unload work to machine without evaluating results or determining acceptability of products. Perform calibration and control checks on mechanical units and solutions under direct supervision. Maintain calibration records. Prepare for licensed inspector examination by studying assigned reading material, attending classroom instructions and practical application at the machine.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Move pans, skids and C-bins within the department using hoists, dollies and hand trucks. Maintain work in a clean, orderly and safe manner. Perform other duties as necessary or appropri­ate to the position.

High school diploma, GED or other valid measure of mechanical aptitude.

General communications such as reading pan tags, reporting production data and receiving job instructions and procedures

Arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including decimals and fractions, simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications and schedules

Use of fixed gages and direct reading instruments and devices in which interpretation is not required (e.g. borescope, gage blocks, go/no go gages,, plug gages, ring gages, scale (6” or 12”), scale (weight), snap gages)

Diversified operation requiring constant alertness and activity

Follows general instructions and standard methods and procedures
