The Metrology Applications Engineer will provide be responsible for solution-oriented support to ensure product is compliant across the Division. Primary responsibilities include development of processes and procedures required to introduce new inspection equipment into a production facility.   This role is responsible for generating specifications that will govern introduction, use, and maintenance of new inspection equipment.  

Essential Functions:                                                    

  • Analyze and understand customer requirements.
  • Develop metrology hardware/software solutions based on customer requirements for inspection of key product characteristics.
  • Work with the Automated Manufacturing Team to develop software tools and techniques to perform required automated inspections.
  • Develop and document a process to introduce and qualify new inspection equipment.
  • Develop and publish a training manual and process for new inspection equipment.
  • Develop and publish preventative maintenance procedures and schedules for new inspection equipment.
  • Provide Applications technical support for automated production metrology equipment.
  • Work closely with product and quality engineering organizations.
  • Assist with development and introduction of new Metrology products.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field. Apply state-of-the-art technology (including peripheral equipment and supplies) to develop the optimal customer solution.
  • Be the focal point of automated metrology equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills:                                                           

  • General experience with automation systems and knowledge of Fanuc controls
  • General knowledge of custom macro/parametric programming
  • The purpose of this requirement is to ensure compliance with U.S. export control laws.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop & execute action plans that will deliver results
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Desired Skills:                                                             

  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.
  • Proven experience in Manufacturing Industry.

Experience & Education                                              

  • Associates degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the aerospace or related industry, or a minimum of 5 years metrology applications experience.
    • Experience with the operation of the following inspection equipment
    • Structured light inspection systems
    • CMM inspection systems
    • Vision inspection systems
    • CT inspection systems
  • General experience with using CAD/CAM/solid modeling software
  • This position may require the use of, and access to, ITAR controlled data. The applicant must demonstrate eligibility to use and access such ITAR controlled data.
