Net Shaped Solutions (NSS), under PCC, located in Canton, MI, is looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our team. Net Shaped Solutions provides innovative cold forged product solutions for a wide variety of high-impact applications. Our process creates products that are stronger, more durable and better engineered. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the coordination of Quality documentation to ensure customer requirement compliance (including APQP / PPAP process). Additional responsibilities include but not limited to knowledge of measuring, testing, and inspecting products at various stages of development and production processes, quality record management and the use of statistical data to determine and support products.

FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality requirements
  • Create and support APQP / PPAP documentation (e.g., IMDS, PFMEA, Capability Studies, GRR)
  • Create internal quality plans and documents (e.g., Process Flow, Control Plan, Work Instructions)
  • Coordinate the development of gaging plans and gages utilizing internal and external resources
  • Develop and apply SPC practices
  • Perform scrap data analysis
  • Perform statistical studies for product and process improvements
  • Perform product, process and final audits
  • Manage Gage Calibration Program (using Gage Pack)
  • Manage Hold / Non-Conforming Areas (assist with Deviation requests)
  • Helps support IATF16949 certification
  • Drives improvements to existing measurement and sorting / inspection techniques
  • Assist with Customer Specification Monitoring for Compliance
  • Participates in root cause analysis investigations
  • Other duties as assigned or instructed

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university or an Associate’s Degree.
    • 3-5 years of experience working in a Quality position in a manufacturing environment.
    • Hands on approach to problem solving utilizing 8d, 5 why & fishbone problem solving techniques. 
    • Preferred to have an understanding of the mechanics of forming, rolling and machining processes
    • Must have strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power point).
    • Ability to quickly learn and apply SPC (Infinity QS) software,
    • Data analysis skills (Excel, Mini-Tab preferred)
    • Solid understanding of GD&T
    • Strong mechanical aptitude for trouble shooting
    • Detail oriented
    • Strong documentation / writing skills
    • Practical application of Six Sigma Tools is Preferred
    • Ability to communicate with customers via phone and email
    • Communicate in a professional manner
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks to completion
    • Organized
    • Ability to track a project’s progress to completion
