Building upon Conventional Machinist level 1, level two conventional machinists (with minimal assistance and Supervision), set up and machines simple to intermediate production part features, demonstrating skills in the intermediate machines setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools. Level two conventional machinist competencies include the ability to use advanced quality inspection tools and techniques such as part layout and bench inspection processes, as well as operating conventional mills, lathes and grinders. The level two conventional machinist will have advanced competencies in blue print reading and common tool geometry identification and application.

Include the following:

  • Operates conventional mills, lathes and grinders
  • Inspects produced components per blueprint using standard inspection techniques
  • Loads/unloads parts in the provided work holding method per setup
  • Replaces broken cutting tools/ insets as needed
  • Completes work order documentation in accordance with AS9100 quality standards
  • Loads and checks programming and setup
  • Establishes work and tooling offset information

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma / GED equivalent required. CNC, Machining, Blue Print Reading, GD&T, Shop Math certifications preferred. 4-6 Year minimum experience in the aerospace/automotive or similar manufacturing industry.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer use. Applicant should be familiar with machining methods.
