** This role is for Molding Specialists.**

MISSION:

To be the on sight technical resource for daily issues arising from the process and/or inspection staff.  To assist with process control issues, and cross training.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

A. Teamwork

 

  1. Participates in staffing projections.
  2. Handles first line technical performance issues. Communicates with employees in a respectful manner regarding workmanship issues. Notifies supervision when further action is required to improve technical performance.
  3. Gives fact-based input from the technical aspect for performance reviews and measurements.
  4. Trains employees on new skills and works with employees to improve technical performance to satisfactory levels or maintain satisfactory performance.
  5. Provides feedback and coaching for continuous improvement of the inspection personnel.
  6. Coordinates resources to move from one team to help another when necessary to meet daily thru-put and support outside departments.
  7. Is sensitive to and proactively supports the maintenance of a harassment/discrimination free environment.
  8. Avoids favoritism or the perception of favoritism.
  9. May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

 

B. Process Control

 

  1. Ensures that the quality requirements flowed down through the QCM and related documents are followed.
  2. Corrects deficiencies and notifies appropriate party/parties when a process is variant.
  3. Facilitates technique card and router changes.
  4. Participates in root cause analysis for variant conditions.
  5. Ensure the team has the necessary tools and documents to perform the required inspections.
  6. Assists with auditing. Both as an auditor and as the focal point for the team during external audits,

 

C. Molding

  1. Setup molding parameters on new tools.
  2. Evaluate / update current molding parameters for process improvement.
  3. Review tool shots for part quality (provide recommendations for part quality improvements).
  4. Review tool designs with engineering for functionality and part quality.
  5. Work with molding / tool engineers for tool proving (provide feedback).
  6. Work directly with process control for tool improvements.

D. Tool Maintenance

  1. Clean dies.
  2. Remove rust.
  3. Lube & grease dies.
  4. Polish out minor nicks and dings (scotch bright).
  5. Replace dowel / leader pins (as needed – can be contracted outside).
  6. Replace sintered vents  (as needed – can be contracted outside).
  7. Repair airboxes including “O” rings and pins (as needed – can be contracted outside).
  8. Evaluate wax dies for damage / and functionalit.y
  9. Open and display dies for customers / vendors.
  10. Work with molding / tool engineers for tool proving (provide feedback).

E. Other

  1. Interfaces with customers, engineering, and other departments to give process walks and presentations.
  2. Has the authority as granted by the responsible level 3 to correct any interpretation calls by the other department inspectors.
  3. Contacts appropriate resources if any employee may not be fit for duty. Addresses the issue promptly.
  4. Assures compliance with safe work habits and maintenance of proper housekeeping procedures                                     
  5. Assures compliance with company policies and procedures and promptly notifies supervision of deviations.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
  7. May be assigned to multiple work centers or departments.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certification in the required based on departmental needs. Or ability to certify within 90 days required.  If employee cannot certify within 90 days then employee is disqualified      
  2. from position.
  3. TATS certification and other certifications will be required based on departmental needs.
  4. Incumbent must be willing, as required by team and production needs to:
    1. Adjust shift
    2. Perform various jobs required to process parts
    3. Interface with other teams and support areas.
  5.  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.  Instructions must be clear and unambiguous; consistently assures directions are clearly understood resulting in work that rarely, if ever, needs to be redone due to the quality of communication.
  6.  Ability to make “shop floor” presentations to customers, engineering, and other     departments as required or requested.
  7. See department qualification which may or may not be shift specific
  8. Incumbents who are regularly unavailable through excessive absenteeism (excluding approved leaves) or are deemed incapable of performing the required job functions of a Lead, may be dismissed from their lead position without use of disciplinary action.
