PURPOSE:

Position is responsible for providing Metallurgical Engineering support required to ensure that product conforms to customer requirements.  Also provides Engineering support to Operations and equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Works under direction from Senior/Principal Product Metallurgist
  • Interface with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality departments as necessary.
  • Provide support to all internal “customers” including Planning and Operations.
  • Support new product introduction to ensure customer requirements and material properties are achieved.
  • Manage non-conforming product and product repair.
  • Assist root cause investigations through rigid problem-solving techniques and statistical analysis for material property deviations.
  • Manage business systems supporting forge, heat-treat and testing within customer specs and fixed plan parameters.
  • Prepare qualification test reports and other technical reports.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • S. in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Forging and Heat-Treating experience preferred but not required.
  • General familiarity with metals material properties.

  • Can work well with colleagues.
  • Analytical problem solving.
  • Strong computer literacy required.
