Summary

The Laborer will primarily focus on the visual inspection, transportation and packaging of final work product according to customer specification.  

Essential Functions

·       Adheres to plant and department safety rules, safely operate all equipment and tools, identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible.

·       Transports material from production through final packaging, via forklift or other manual and mobilized equipment.

·       Load and unload material for shot blast operations or other value-added service.

·       Package material into drums, Gaylords, boxes or super sacks according to customer specification, this includes adherence to weight specification.

·       Identify product through labeling and stencils.

·       Perform visual quality inspection of product.

·       Unload trucks with incoming materials.

·       Maintains a clean work environment.

·       Performs miscellaneous functions as needed in various departments.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

·       High school diploma or equivalent.

·       2-4 years' experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment preferred.

Competencies

·       Experience operating forklifts preferred.

·       Must have attention for detail, including basic math skills with the ability to add and subtract accurately.

·       Proficient in the basic use of a computer to facilitate the entry and completion of work orders.

·       Able to use basic hand tools.

·       Must physically be able to frequently lift up to 35 lbs. with frequent bending.

·       Able to multi-task with shifting priorities and multiple interruptions.

·       Must be willing to work shifts and overtime as needed, including 12-hour shifts.

·       Performs other related duties as assigned.

Works primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, flames, water and extreme heat and cold. Occasional exposure to vibrations and noise.
