PURPOSE:
Position is responsible for providing Metallurgical Engineering support required to ensure that product conforms to customer requirements. Also provides Engineering support to Operations and equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Works under direction from Senior/Principal Product Metallurgist
- Interface with Manufacturing, Engineering and Quality departments as necessary.
- Provide support to all internal “customers” including Planning and Operations.
- Support new product introduction to ensure customer requirements and material properties are achieved.
- Manage non-conforming product and product repair.
- Assist root cause investigations through rigid problem-solving techniques and statistical analysis for material property deviations.
- Manage business systems supporting forge, heat-treat and testing within customer specs and fixed plan parameters.
- Prepare qualification test reports and other technical reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
- S. in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Forging and Heat-Treating experience preferred but not required.
- General familiarity with metals material properties.
