Director of Operational Excellence Summary:  This position will lead the Operational Excellence group at the Toronto, Ohio facility. The mission of this group is to reduce operational risk through lean techniques, leveraging the latest automation, and process control of the Toronto operation.  This person will be a champion of data, lean, six sigma, and overall process stability.  This person needs to be a change agent and have the mindset to implement sustainable improvement in the areas of safety, quality, throughput, and cost. At all times, this person will need to conduct business in a safe, ethical, and professional manner.

Principle Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Operational Excellence Group
  • Act as a subject matter expert on lean techniques and six sigma tools/methodologies
  • Work with site leadership to develop a strategic improvement roadmap and ensure resources are allocated appropriately
  • Drive the usage of data in decision making

     2. Drive Bottom Line Improvements

  • Ensure teams’ efforts improve the variable cost of each product line by focusing on process stability and predictability and through lean six sigma approaches
  • Leverage opportunities to infuse automation and process control where appropriate

     3. Support Plant and Corporate Initiatives

  • Support capital improvements with data to justify projects and by leading the transition from a capital project to an operational unit
  • Drive process improvement and/or process efficiency initiatives that are required by PCC or by any customers
  • Liaise with other plant and division teams as necessary

 Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of SAP

Education/Experience requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required) in a Science or Engineering related field
  • MBA a plus
  • Experience in metals or manufacturing environments a plus
  • Ten years of experience preferred
