Location Profile:

Founded in Jenkintown, PA in 1903 as Standard Pressed Steel Company, SPS Technologies continues to operate from the original 560,000 square foot facility.

SPS Technologies has been developing and manufacturing critical fasteners since the early days of aviation, working closely with its customers to meet the needs of an ever-changing industry.

Many of the materials, designs, and manufacturing practices that have become industry standards were pioneered by SPS Technologies. SPS Technologies continues to advance the materials, designs, and manufacturing practices of aerospace fasteners today to meet the unique needs of next generation vehicles and assembly techniques.

Without supervision, operate and perform basic setups of one or more of the following machines: Point, Head, ASL, Grind, Lanids, or Weldon. Basic familiarity with fillet roll tooling. This role requires intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, first & last piece inspection, as well as basic trouble shooting.

 

    • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction  
    • Maintain machines and work area in a clean, safe and orderly manner
    • Use sample parts, blueprints, and schematics to determine the method and order of operations.  
    • Protect machines and machined product by following processes and procedures such as part loading, being in control of the machine, and safely transporting product over short distances. 
    • Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting machine offsets as needed. 
    • Perform and record in process inspection actions such as measuring and validating part features regarding dimensional tolerances and specifications. 
    • Perform first and last article inspection, as well as inspection at regular intervals to ensure parts qualityPerform setup operations which includes setting up fixtures and cutting tools. 
    • Perform inspection tasks of intermediate complexity interacting with drawings and more advanced inspection tools. 
    • Meets production demands 
    • Run production on multiple machines at once. (Primary & Secondary) 
    • Other duties as assigned  
  • 1+ Years of experience typically
  • GED or High School Diploma preferred
    • Basic shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts and tables.
    • Have the ability to use a variety of adjustable measuring instruments requiring interpretation (e.g. dial indicators, hardness tester, height gages, intra-micrometers, level MAHR gages, micrometers, pitch gages, pressure gages, slab gages, Sunnen gages, vernier gages and calipers.)
    • Repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity.
    • Use judgement to plan or perform work within limitations of standard methods and procedures.
  • Demonstrate advanced communication skill such as training other employees, posting, preparing, interpreting, using and checking reports, records and comparable data.
