- Introductory product lifecycle management – from customer through manufacturing onboarding of new product
- Working with the customer to define CTQ characteristics and product application requirements
- Creating, or supporting the creation of, test plans or statements of work to validate that product will meet customer requirements through coordination with the Engineering R&D test lab
- Working with the Sales team to ensure the correct items are identified and that internal Engineering requirements are understood prior to order entry
- New Product Introduction (NPI) and Item setup in the ERP system
- Internal manufacturing drawing creation/coordination and creation of process specifications, if required
- Defining Key Characteristics for process controls during first-time product manufacturing and setup/coordination of SPC Plans with the Mfg. Engineering team to ensure customer requirements are met
- Working with Mfg. Engineering to ensure raw materials or forging requirements are defined
- Good project management
- Working knowledge of the use of Gantt-chart type project trackers, defining milestones, actions, owners, due dates, and financial opportunities
- Write clear and concise statements of work for customer-driven or new product development and introduction projects
- Ability to maintain focus on assigned actions and tasks, and having the drive to push through obstacles without frequently requiring support from management or Sr. Engineers
- Work with sales to perform basic cost-analysis, support quoting, and be a go-to technical resource for the customer
- Working with standard Engineering administrative processes, such as engineering change orders, new product introduction workflows, drawing creation/release, project requests from sales/customer/manufacturing, workflow processes, and creation of procedures
- Create engineering report-outs and presentations to senior management on major projects, including walking through project timelines, milestones, metrics or KPI’s, and the action plan/next steps
- Develop a knowledge of the fluid fittings product - design, application, manufacturing processes, and performance of root-cause-analysis with teams of Engineers and members of other departments when deviations from process/procedure occur
- Writing and releasing work instructions, process specifications, and operating procedures related to plant engineering activities and technical manufacturing requirements
- May occasionally perform special duties or projects, as assigned.
- B.S. in an Engineering discipline
- 1-1/2+ years of Engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment
- A track-record of working on successful, results-driven engineering projects
- Project management experience with successful project outcomes
- A track-record of successful problem solving using logic, RCCA, 8D, 5 Why, PDCA, and A3
- Firm skill-set with the Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, Visio, Powerpoint, and Project
- Experience creating Solidmodels and Drawings using Solidworks or CATIA
- Experience in managing product data (drawings, models, processes, procedures), preferably through the use of a PDM software
- Exposure to process mapping and to the deployment of process improvement tools to develop and deploy the future state
- Exposure to the development of test plans for validation or development of new product, and for trouble-shooting existing product.
- Exposure to the adherence, or creation, of project metrics and KPI’s
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, both within the organization and with customers or vendors/suppliers
- Ability to work well with individuals inside and outside of the organization
- Mechanically-oriented, and having demonstrated hand-on mechanical abilities
- Fundamental Microsoft Windows computer skills, including but not limited to, organized management of file folders, shared files, managing file types, and desktop setup
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and draw conclusions from data using analytics or graphical illustrations – bar-charts, histograms, graphs/trend-lines, plots, etc.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity, and to guide others through ambiguous problems
- Ability to apply logic and scientific thinking to intellectual and practical problems
- Ability to Create and Interpret Engineering Drawings, including GD&T, and ability to work with Solidworks or CATIA solid models
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control in a high-mix, medium-volume manufacturing environment – X-bar and R-charts, control limits, Cp/Cpk, and Key Characteristics
- Ability to interpret and produce well-written, clear, and concise technical procedures.
- Working knowledge and demonstrated use of ERP/MRP/MES systems a plus
- Previous design, product development, and product lifecycle management experience a plus
- Familiarity with and previous development of Process mapping, process improvement, and process deployment
- Familiarity with phase-gate type process workflows
- Exposure to Design for Six Sigma and/or Lean/Six Sigma training (either formal, or informal) a plus
