PCC Structurals specializes in nickel-based superalloy, titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum investment castings for aerospace, land-based turbine, medical, military armament, and many other applications. Our division’s emphasis on high-quality, low-cost, and timely delivery has enabled it to become the leading supplier of structural investment castings worldwide.

PCC Groton works with extremely complex castings, primarily for industrial gas turbines and other energy applications. Groton also manufactures vacuum and air investment cast components for aero-engine and airframe components. Castings are produced from nickel/cobalt-based superalloys and stainless steels.

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer will perform a wide variety of quality functions designed to meet all customer and third-party requirements and internal goals established by plant management. This will include managing and establishing check points in all operations of the quality system in all the departments, and the auditing procedure and frequency to ensure conformance to established procedures. The QE will identify trends and recommend corrective action. In addition, areas of excessive cost due to rework, welding or other similar operations will be identified for corrective action.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Review drawings and related specification on new programs. Inform Engineering of quality requirements to insure conformance of initial samples and subsequent production.

 

  • Directs the preparation of the Inspection Method Sheet and other customer required documentation to insure timely customer approval of initial submission.

 

  • Manage individual customer self-release programs including procedure preparation and maintenance, purchase order/control review, inspection of parts (audit/sampling) for conformance to requirements, direct contact with customer representatives and handling any customer returns/complaints.

 

  • Investigate quality complaints from customers and establish corrective action by working with Engineering and Production Departments as required.

 

  • Assist Quality Manager in conducting plant surveys as required by customers. Assists at meetings in determining rework or salvage methods as may be required and establish corrective action of jobs with excessive scrap.

 

  • Perform other duties of equal or less complexity as assigned or directed by management.

 

  • Follow all company and departmental safety rules.
  • BS degree in engineering or related discipline
  • 4-6 years of related Quality experience, Aerospace desirable
  • Knowledge of investment casting processes and quality assurance methods and techniques, materials, metallurgical and ceramic aspects and requirements preferred

 


 

  • Knowledge and use of advanced shop mathematics, QC statistics and formulas
  • Ability to read and interpret complicated drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; specifically Excel
