The Subject Matter expert is responsible for leading and developing policies, best practices, and training/competency programs across PCC supplier base to eliminate potential risk. Utilizing this risk-based approach, division and site leadership will have a playbook that defines standard work and best practices are utilized, will optimize internal controls, and assure consistency to achieve our objective of Zero Defects.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and lead standard PCC special process methodology for Material Testing across PCC and suppliers as follows:

  • Develop standard corporate policy and procedures for this special process.
  • Create risk assessment and audit programs with defined criteria, intervals, and metrics to assure compliance and continuity across PCC.
    • Perform periodic quality control testing including but not limited to witness testing and round-robin testing as applicable to monitor results and ensure process is in control and capable. Ensure policies and procedures adhere to corporate standards.
  • Create standard systems for collecting and disseminating inputs and outputs for process.
    • Develop dashboard with metrics to ensure program is deployed consistently and sustained across the corporation. 
    • This shall include internal controls, assessments, and external input.
  • Develop and sustain structured training and competency assessment programs for leadership and personnel with initial and periodic assessments to assure continuity. Participate and lead efforts to develop personnel at sites to embrace and comply with standard work and requirements.
    • Create and lead a community of testing Subject Matter Experts to drive standardization, best practices, and unity across PCC.
  • Utilize and incorporate zero defect methodologies into risk-based program.
    • This includes but is not limited to the use of aerospace standard tools (e.g. PFD’s, PFMEA’s, MSA, process capability and control, control plans, etc.)
    • Assess impact of human factors and address mistake-proofing methodologies to abate risk.
  • Be an active member of industry committees (e.g. Nadcap, ASTM, etc.) to collaborate and leverage best practices and requirements from aerospace, regulatory and customer requirements while harmonizing across PCC.
  • Assist in the development of new techniques, methodologies for enhancing and optimizing special process. Focus on best value.  
    • Assist with development of standard procedures, controls, competency.
    • Embrace and support efforts for new technology including customer and/or regulatory approval as required for that technology.
    • Develop project plans and meet budget and timeline requirements
  • Serves as liaison with sites, divisions, suppliers, and customers for this special process.
    • Provide guidance and expertise to sales, engineering, operations, and quality on special process issues with regard to customer inquiries.
    • Lead and participate in cross-division, functional teams to solve problems.
  • Develop and achieve budgets with focus on adding best value.
  • Support special projects as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Education

  • Technical bachelor’s degree in metallurgy or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience working with NADCAP Material Testing labs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multi-site Material Test Labs as outlined herein.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in aerospace quality/technical position, and experience with aerospace customers and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Zero Defect Methodology
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a large organization.
  • Demonstrated experience applying quality methods and problem-solving tools (8D, Six Sigma, PFD’s, FMEA, process control, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Minitab or other statistical software preferred.
  • Ability to travel 60% to PCC and supplier facilities

For informational purposes only, the range for annual base salary for this role is $110000 to $140000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried  based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Executive Bonus Plan, paid out up to 20% of the applicable annual base salary, based on the Company’s performance in the prior calendar year. Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
