MISSION:

 

To prepare ceramic molds for casting using various processing methods.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  1. Preparation.

 

Objective: prepare wax assemblies for investing process.

 

Typical Activities

 

  1. Cleans wax assemblies with solvents, blows out.

 

  1. Investing.

 

Objective: apply ceramic slurries and sands using Tech Cards and process control procedures.

 

Typical Activities:

 

  1. Performs multiple dips of wax assembly in ceramic slurries and sands using automated, hand held and or mechanical processing methods.
  2. Corrects automated robot deficiencies and product flow problems as needed.
  3. Applies types of wire and wire mesh to strengthen molds.
  4. Fills cores with ceramic slurry, sand, rods and wire.
  5. Apply insulation and other ceramic materials to shell in casting preparation.
  6. Delivers molds to casting.

 

  1. Lot Integrity.

 

Objective: maintain lot integrity throughout shell processing.

 

Typical Activities:

 

  1. Inputs information into computer, completes logs and records.
  2. Signs paperwork.

 

 

 

  1. Safety.

 

Objective: take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

 

NOTE:  for job positions that require respiratory protection more than a filtering face piece dust mask

In compliance with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division Personal Protective Equipment standard for Respiratory Protection, OAR 437, Div. 2 I 1910.134 and Oregon Health Division Rules for the Control of Radiation, OAR 333. Div. 120 333120-300 through 330, certain tasks within this job position require may require the use of a NIOSH-approved respirator.  An individual will not be assigned to these tasks if the person is not able to work under these conditions.  Respirator selection will be based on the work performed, exposure information, duration of use and any other relevant factors.  If a tight-fitting respirator is required, facial hair, temple pieces on glasses or other items that interferes with the face-to-face piece seal of the respirator are not permitted.

 

Typical Activities:

 

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.
  4. May be required to handle hazardous waste.

 

  1. Cleans work area.

 

  1. Performs other tasks as directed.

 

TRAINING: 

 

  1. Training is provided on the job.

 

  1. PCCs Fork Lift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.

 

  1. May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Industrial experience, with experience in the investing area preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.

 

  1. Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Tech Cards.

 

  1. Ability to work independently.

 

  1. Ability to lift and or maneuver objects weighting thirty to fifty pounds and occasionally up to one hundred and twenty pounds.

 

  1. Ability to work in difficult working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.

 

  1. Previous fork lift experience desirable.

 

INDIVIDUALS MAY HAVE CONTACT WITH OR BE REQUIRED TO HANDLE HAZARDOUS WASTE.

 

MAJOR PLANT DIFFERENCES:

 

  1. Hand dipping is not done at LSBO.
