Position Summary: The successful candidate will have more than 3 years of successful, direct project management experience for IT or industrial technology projects. The Division Project Manager (PM) must be able to define and manage project timelines, controls and resources for multiple projects of various sizes, while engaging and supporting junior project managers to share PM roles and responsibilities and partnering with operations teams in project planning and execution. The PM will help guide and mature PM practices within the Division, leveraging PMI and other professional project management guidance, best practices and management tools.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead Division IT project management activities across all Wyman Gordon locations.
  • Organize and manage – either directly or through delegation – the existing project portfolio and establish forward-looking strategies to identify, plan and manage future projects.
  • Assist senior IT leadership with the establishment and advancement of standard PM practices, tools and work products.
  • Document and review project requirements, specifications, use-cases, and controls.
  • Support and implement Corporate and Division project management policy and initiatives.
  • Mentor and train junior PMs.
  • Advise and assist other division and corporate project teams to plan, execute and control technology projects.
  • Champion corporate, division and industry best practices and policies regarding project, program and portfolio management
  • Partner with senior leadership and human resources to establish a project management career path for new and aspiring PMs

Required Skills:

  • Managing IT and manufacturing technology projects with adherence to PMI principles.
  • Identifying, assessing and developing remediation plans for project risk.
  • Advising and assisting junior PMs to improve project accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Implementing and operating standard project management tools and controls.
  • Negotiating project plans with business leaders and technical implementation staff.
  • Managing multiple projects or project portfolios across multiple geographic locations.
  • Must be PMP certified.
  • Experience with a variety of project management tools, methodologies and software.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft productivity software.
  • Solid familiarity with ERP-related or other enterprise business software projects.
  • High comfort level managing complex projects.

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Strong experience managing IT projects.
  • Strong familiarity with manufacturing or industrial automation technology.
  • Good knowledge of physical and cyber security principles
  • Experience managing projects for an international enterprise
  • Experience supporting projects in multiple locations, both physically and virtually.
  • Knowledge of discrete manufacturing business processes.

 Experience & Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, project management, business management or related studies.
  • Must be PMP certified.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a principal project manager, preferably in a manufacturing, IT or aerospace environment.
  • Master’s degree in a technology or business discipline is desirable.

 Working Conditions:

  • Intermittent exposure to indoor manufacturing environment
  • Intermittent exposure to moderate noise
  • Exposure to hazardous chemical environment
  • Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, odors, hot / cold temperatures, inside / outside noise vibration.
  • Some travel expected for project startup, turnaround or closure, as necessary.
  • Preferred candidates will be located in or near Houston, TX; North Grafton, MA; or Los Angeles, CA.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds on an infrequent basis.
  • Must be able to work around forklifts and hazardous machinery.
  • Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.
