The Production Planning Coordinator is a "hands-on" position that provides daily production scheduling, oversight of work flow and assists in production flow throughout the office and plant.  This position provides production reporting for Raw Materials, interfacing with both SAP and MITS.  This position works in the RM Planning Group and interfaces with Production Control Department, Melt Shop, Raw Material Foremen, and Shift Supervisors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates receiving and scheduling of raw materials with the RM Operations Manager and RM supervisors
  • Generates and distributes the daily schedule for all production cells in a timely manner that meet the overall scheduling requirements as defined by the RM Operations Manager
  • Locates material to be processed and insures that operations is working on the correct materials to satisfy demand
  • Reviews incoming scrap shipment for immediate disposition
  • Accumulates necessary data to produce and issue the weekly production report
  • Assists with the input daily blend updates into SAP
  • Assists with work order review, coding, and daily delivery of information to the Production Manager
  • Reviews incoming raw material paperwork for proper identification and weight correlation; approves the next step to proceed with unloading of material
  • Review scrap delivery requests and schedule accordingly.
  • Manage quarantine database and scheduling work needing to be done per the quarantine requests with RM shop.
  • Participate in weekend rotation of generating manpower schedules and production scheduling
  • Coordinate paperwork and scheduling of the receiving and shipment of scrap deliveries.
  • Accumulates necessary data to complete all analysis reports; provides write-up and forward information to the Production Manager
  • Required to work overtime as necessary to complete job requirements ie., working last Sunday of the month to ensure all work orders are completed for month end closing
  • Required to input and manipulate data on the computer system to include but not be restricted to receiving data, opening work orders, etc.
  • Other duties assigned to support Raw Materials Operations

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; Additional schooling is preferred.
  • Min of 1-2 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience in an Industrial setting and/or metal industry preferred
  • Proven ability to learn quickly in a technical environment and to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels
