Position Summary:

With constant supervision, operates hand grinding machine that shape steel forged bars or parts and removes defects and scale by performing the following duties.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follows oral instructions to ascertain each job function.
  • Cleans dust, oil and grease from machines, piping and equipment.
  • Cleans floors in plant area. Picks up refuse from plant grounds and maintains area.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, barrels, racks, and shelves by hand or with forklift or crane.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination by forklift or crane.
  • Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel or metals into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
  • Operates forklift or crane to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Operates sit down Tennant parking lot sweeper.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one with supervisor's other employees of the Company.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

 

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $17 to $22 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
