Position Summary:

The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily management and execution of various maintenance activities, encompassing preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergent maintenance tasks. The successful candidate must possess a robust electrical background coupled with mechanical expertise and proficient computer skills. Responsible for leading a team, this role requires strong leadership abilities and a high level of self-motivation.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent, responsible for workflow, materials, and equipment for the maintenance team to support a highly reliable, safe working environment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of knowledge of the following systems/circuits, Motor controls, PLC’s, electronic drives, basic electrical construction techniques, electro-mechanical systems, and a working understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Lead change and implementation of systematic processes required to achieve maintenance objectives which directly support manufacturing excellence.
  • Promote the concepts of teamwork, communicating will all departments and crews to translate work requirements into clear and achievable plans.
  • Work directly with vendors, contractors, maintenance and purchasing to plan, prioritize, and schedule maintenance work.
  • Ensure crew effectiveness and policy discipline to all company and customer standards.

Challenges:

  • Develop and continuously improve the preventative, predictive, and condition-based maintenance monitoring programs for all mill equipment.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System to effectively manage work to achieve a minimum of 98% mill utilization in the most cost-efficient manner.
  • Work with the department to adjust the maintenance program to increase mill utilization and/or decrease costs.
  • Work effectively in a small group to set mid and long-term goals and measure progress.
  • Work with Maintenance and Engineering to plan for major mill shutdowns and other project work.
  • Coordinates with purchasing and vendors to ensure parts availability for emergent work.

Required Skills:

  • The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of day to day management and execution of preventive, predictive, corrective and emergent maintenance.
  • Candidate will possess strong team and leadership skills, possess a strong electrical background with some mechanical background as well as strong computer skills coupled with familiarity of CMMS tools and techniques for task development and requisitioning of related parts and materials to support planned and emergent work.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated and self-directed and possess strong leadership skills.
  • The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of executing planned and unplanned work in his/her assigned area/department including resource management, assigning work via Crew Leads to ensure optimum equipment reliability and productivity and interface with customers and other lateral activities including contract labor.
  • The candidate also assists in the development of long-term schedules, major outages, execution of preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs, and acts as the primary liaison with production counterparts to ensure all pre-planned work is completed in a safe, timely and efficient manner to support the joint maintenance and production schedule including emergency and breakdown work.
  • The candidate seeks to continuously improve the methods, documentation, and systems used to provide the most effective product in the safest and least expensive manner possible.

Required Experience/Education:

  • The successful candidate has a strong electrical background but also possesses a high level of mechanical ability.
  • BS desirable. AS, High school diploma or GED and 5 to 7 years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must have a strong technical background and familiarity with equipment and challenges associated with heavy industry.
  • The incumbent will be expected to share in weekend and overtime responsibilities to meet the production needs of the mill.
