Walden’s Machine was founded in 1976 by Charlie Walden. Primus purchased Walden’s in 2006 and PCC purchased Primus in 2011. The Company offers a complete range of products and services including high speed machining (3, 4 & 5 axis medium/complex aluminum and hard metal machining), kitting, assembly and integration, decorative coatings, airfoil/propulsion structures specialist and global supply chain management. Walden’s is a 24 hour facility and is staffed with 340 employees.

Position Summary:
The IT co-op will gain exposure to working in a fast paced manufacturing environment. The co-op will be project based but will also include exposure to day-to-day operations. Maintaining, repairing, and upgrading components of the LAN including but not limited to workstations, printers, and software. Providing technical software, hardware and network problem resolution to end users by performing question/problem diagnosis and guide users through step-by-step solutions on both an on-site and call-back basis.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Clearly communicates technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner; provide one-on-one end-user training as needed.
- Ensures timely resolution/referral of user problems by understanding the impact to the user and by assigning an appropriate priority and resolution goal.
- Manages user account changes.
- Manages and updates an accurate IT equipment inventory.
- Diagnoses and resolves end-user network or local printer problems, PC hardware problems, email problems, and site connectivity problems.
- Proposes and implements hardware and software upgrades optimizing network performance while remaining within budget.
- Helps install local area network cabling systems and equipment such as network interface cards, switches, and VPN devices.
- Assists Network Administrator as needed.
- Track software license compliance and perform annual audits to confirm licensing compliance.
- Manage signoffs and software change requests in accordance with IT procedures and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Maintain Active Directory environment.
- Maintain spare parts inventory for internal software, hardware, and network printers.
- Perform related work as required.
Required Skills:
- Should be customer service-oriented and learn techniques to best serve clients. Ability to deliver customer service to users with various levels of knowledge.
- Professional verbal and written skills required. Must be able demonstrate these communication skills via e-mail, phone and in person
- Creative problem solving skills with strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to take direction well and be motivated self-starters.
- Must be open and excited to learn new technologies.
- Knowledge of hardware and software installation on various computing platforms
- Must be able to disconnect, lift and move PC’s and monitors (35 lbs.) to new desks, and maneuver under counters and in tight spots to run cables and wires for PCs.
- Must be able to follow both written and verbal instruction
- Must be able to work with vendors for returns, support and trouble shooting
- Must be analytical and methodical in carrying out task and work assignments.
- Detailed oriented – Accurate, thorough, strong work ethic, and be driven to provide a quality solution.
- Multitasking – can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a determined goal.
Required Experience and Education:
The candidate must have a minimum 2 years college credit, currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior level status at an accredited college or university in Computer Information Systems or related field of study.
