Position Description:

For approximately three months, the Engineering/Operations Intern will obtain real world experience applying engineering principles in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will practice lean manufacturing, six sigma techniques, theory of constraints, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, advanced quality management and other advanced strategies to drive continuous improvement and cost savings in a specific manufacturing area of the Jenkintown plant operation. During this time, the Intern Student will support department Supervisors in various areas (e.g., bolts, nuts, chemical plating, heat treat, etc.) and have varying degrees of responsibility dependent upon the project needs at the time the cooperative education experience begins. Typically, the Intern will be responsible for the following: • Proactively identifying areas for improvement, • Assist Managers/Supervisors in investigating/root causing issues that affect production/processes by collecting and evaluating data and recommending solutions for process improvement • Prepare data for Managers/Supervisors meetings • Assist Managers/Supervisors in the implementation of new processes • Promote safety by enforcing company rules and following best practices • Promote a work environment conducive to high employee morale and a team environment • Maintain organized work area • Work both independently and as a team member • Ad hoc projects as assigned

The successful candidate must be: • A self-starter, willing to ask questions and be persistent in a fast-paced, complex environment • Well organized • An excellent communicator, able to communicate complex ideas simply and efficiently to a variety of team members including, engineers, supervisors, machinists, and executive leadership • advanced MS Office skills, particularly excel, are required Must be a U.S. Person.
